Oklahoma Business Week (OBW) is a camp for top Oklahoma students who have just completed their sophomore or junior year in high school. It’s much like Boys/Girls State, but with a business slant, rather than a government/political one.  The 100 campers (who will be selected through a competitive application process) will be divided into teams of 10 and will make decisions daily through a Business Simulation.  The feedback from previous decisions will assist them as they make current and future decisions throughout the week until one team wins the simulation, receiving laptops and scholarships.  Each team will be assigned a Company Advisor.  These Advisors are all high level executives who are trained to coach and facilitate, not to make the decisions for the teams.  Although we’ve only just started contacting our targeted list of executives, we do already have our first commitment from Alan Marcum, Executive VP at Devon.

In addition to the Business Simulation competition each day, the campers will also hear presentations by many professionals about a variety of topics.  Some of the speakers who have confirmed, to date, are:  Michael Prince, COO of Guess International who will send the students off with a topic of “So…What’s Next”; Mary Mélon, Publisher, Journal Record who will speak about ethics; Brad Fenton, Owner of Fenton Motor Groups who will speak about salesmanship and entrepreneurship; Craig Sheef, CEO & President, Texas Security Bank, speaking with a theme of “Invent the Future”; B.I. Bridgewater, retired AT&T Executive & Consultant, whose topic will be “Success – You Make It Happen”; Governor Bill Anoatubby, the Chickasaw Nation; Congressman Tom Cole; Senator Susan Paddack; Representative Lisa Johnson Billy; and President John Hargrave, ECU.   OK Business Week Application      OK Business Week  Brochure
